Our ribbons from the fair…

Posted on 19 July 2009 by Paul (1)

Garlic submissionKathleen, Asa and I had the chance to attend the Saratoga County Fair yesterday.  Earlier in the week, we submitted our garlic and blueberries for judging at the fair.  It’s the first time we’ve done it.  Our garlic placed 2nd behind our good friends the Pastore’s.  I probably could have pulled more heads and submitted something bigger, but I didn’t…so it was 2nd for us. I actually did pull some bigger heads today and some strange ones too (see post below).

Our blueberries got a 1st prize ribbon, however.  It might have had something to do with the fact that there was no category for blueberries and I filed under “other” berry.  I suspect that they’ll have that fixed in time for next year’s fair.  In any case we won!

Pictured left is the garlic.  Sadly all of the fine work Kathleen did on presentation was for naught.  We had to cut them down to 5 individual heads.  So it goes.
